DOUBLE TAKE
Producing a scalable content series built around honest conversations about money
Monzo wanted to encourage more open discussions around saving and investing, so it partnered with Untold Fable to produce a new content series. Created as part of Monzo's wider “Get the UK Saving and Investing” initiative, the aim was to make personal finance feel more accessible by moving away from traditional financial content and focusing on real people's experiences. Untold Fable developed a repeatable format built around honest conversations between people with different experiences and perspectives. Rather than relying on experts, presenters or a traditional podcast structure, the series paired carefully matched contributors to share their views on saving and investing. By removing jargon and prioritising authentic discussion, the format made financial conversations feel more natural and helped audiences see themselves reflected in the stories.
We produced three long-form episodes exploring three different topics: generational attitudes to investing; women and investing; and different experiences of saving. Filmed in a London studio with six contributors, the relaxed sofa-based set-up encouraged natural conversation. Untold Fable also created a distinctive visual identity, including a bespoke “Double Take” sofa upholstered in Monzo's iconic hot coral colour and a custom neon sign that could be reused across future episodes. The final content package included three hero YouTube episodes, a series trailer, social cut-downs and supporting articles for Monzo's website.
Directed and photographed by Giorgi Young, the production prioritised creating an environment where contributors felt comfortable sharing authentic experiences. Giorgi was selected for her documentary, social and narrative experience, and her ability to capture genuine human moments while working flexibly across different production environments.
